Don received the Distinguished Alumni award from the University of Alberta at a ceremony in 2017, attended by relatives including his since-deceased older sister Hazel.
As part of the award, the U of A commissioned this wonderful video of Don's life and achievements which was then played at the official ceremony in Edmonton.

During that trip, Don, Paula and Susan had lunch with his relatives in St. Albert, AB including Don's late sister Doreen Forbes's five children and grandchild, with Hazel and her son George Tucker.
